(More customer reviews)I place a K&N Replacement air filter in every car I drive because, in my tests, I have gained about an extra gallon per mile increase in fuel efficiency, smoother throttle response and a slight but noticeable increase in acceleration/power.As such the replacement filters pay for themselves in less than a year.I hadn't ever installed a K&N Air Intake kit because the high retail price of the units made it difficult for me to rationalize the expense vs. utility.In other words I had a hard time seeing how the unit would pay for itself in a reasonable amount of time.However, here on Amazon at present this kit is being sold at a price that makes the recapture of cost, assuming an additional one mile per gallon increase in mileage per gallon and gasoline approaching three dollars a gallon, occur in a reasonable amount of time.All this aside, and having installed this unit, I am an instant convert to the K&N air intake cause!!!For, the difference in throttle response, acceleration and power is surprisingly large, noticeable and pleasurable.Believe it or not, it feels almost like having a different engine in the vehicle; it is that pronounced a difference.I haven't and will not do a gas mileage test because I haven't been keeping track of my pre-installation gas mileage but this went into a 2.4L Tacoma that, when new got around 22-24 miles to the gallon. I have little doubt that I'll get an increase in gas mileage but this a moot point:The gain in power, acceleration and throttle response is more than worth the cost of admission.Installation of this unit was surprisingly easy.It took me about one hour working slowly.The directions are definitely adequate, even if they are a bit short on details and the photographs aren't good.The only complaint I have is that I ended up with two lock washers (K&N calls them wave washers) that I should have used but didn't because I wasn't sure where they should go and a rubber fitting that wasn't on the instruction sheet so I assume it was thrown into the package in error.Everything fit the way it was supposed to.I would caution the installer to carefully fit the weather stripping around the metal plate or else it will look awful (I've seen them improperly installed before and wondered why they were: It is difficult to fit them on because they are held on by a friction bind which is very tight.Just work them on carefully and powerfully and you will not have problems installing them.)In my opinion, this is the single best thing that you can install on your vehicle to get the biggest bang for your buck.This kit is great!!!I would like to note that there is definitely a flat spot that one feels upon acceleration which is reflected in the enclosed dyno documentation.During that period it seems as though the vehicle has slightly less power of acceleration than the stock intake provided but the overall improvement in power and acceleration dwarfs this slightly negative point.Also, and this may or may not matter to you, the sound of the intake is definitely noticeable and the engine sounds far, far throatier than it does with the stock intake.This can be noted by both the vehicle's occupants and outside observers.Some would think this is great, others might not like the slight increase in sound levels.I also believe that gas mileage may suffer as it is just so much fun using all of that extra available power and acceleration and one tends to accelerate more aggressively.I repeat this is a GREAT product!!!

(More customer reviews)First off K&N does not list compatability with the 2007 Cobalt SS/SC, however all three years of the car's production (05-07) use an identical intake system and it will fit the 07 model.The car gets a high RPM whine with a noticable increase in low RPM boost.Likely due to the removal of the restrictive bends in the stock intake.

A common problem with aftermarket intakes is a Check Engine light (for too much air entering the system as would be the case with a leak in teh stock system) which i have NOT experenced.K&N has changed the initial design of this intake and chances are they corrected the airflow readings of the mass air sensor keeping them within spec.

The lack of 5 stars comes form a VERY tight install.It can be a rather large pain however with a little work it will fit and is one of the best constructed/clean looking intakes I've seen for the car.

(More customer reviews)I was in the market for a good motorcycle jack for a while. And after a lot of research, I decided I wanted the tourmaster intake air series 2. I went to the local riding store and bought a pair of gloves and while inside, tried on the jacket. I normaly wear a large. So I picked up the large, put it on. It fit like a glove. I said, okay..thats the one. Large it is. So I went home, logged into amazon.com and bought the jacket in size large. SO once I got the jacket I put in on and it once again fit like a glove. Until.... I removed the inner layers. This jacket come with three layers. An outside mesh coat, and water/wind resistant insert, and a insulated jacket insert. But this is why I wanted this jacket. I thought it would be a great three season coat. So once the two internal layers were removed the jacket seems a bit loose. The padding on the arms kinda flops and just doesn't feel "tight". Put the layers back in and its perfect. So in closure, great coat, good quality..but you may want one size smaller then normal. But if you choose the smaller size, you may not be able to fit in the insulated vest. I say this because it takes up the most space being that it's full of insulation. I might buy another tourmaster jacket for summer riding. And keep this one for spring/fall. The jet (not sure) is the same jacket with out the insulated layer.

AEM 20-403S 3" Air Bypass Valve Review

I've driven through rain with this valve and have had no problems, of course if there were to be problems I would no longer have an engine due to hydro-lock, which is why this valve is so important if you want to run a Cold Air system ALL of the time instead of switching to short ram when it rains. It really is meant for just AEM intakes which is something you should consider if you bought an intake off eBay. Anything is adaptable, but it won't fit as well as if you would have bought a straight up AEM pipe. Overall it's a great product and works quite well. I would have designed it a little better, but whatever. The pre-filter is right out in the open and gets cut up sometimes. For the price, it's quite good.

(More customer reviews)I installed this on my 97 Honda Civic Ex.After installing now has more throttle response and sounds better.Can not beat the price and had free shipping.The only bad thing I can say about this product is the instructions that came with it.You can try to use K&N's off there website but it is a little different.If you are looking for more HP and top end speed then I would go with the CAI over this.But if just looking to add some HP and sound better then stock then I would go with this.Also you do not have to worry about hydrolock.Other then that it works great and is better then stock cold air intake.Also it did not come with a license plate cover.Not sure if they only put those in the CAI which cost more.It did come with stickers. To see pics of it on my car please visit [...] Please note that I live in CA and just had a smog check which I passed but the tech keep looking at my intake and had to check it online to see if it was legal or not.If you go and buy a cheap tube you my fail vs name brand as they have a sticker on them which the tech looks for to pass you.

It is hard to tell how much difference it makes, but the price is lower than for competing name brands. Physically the filter seems to be well constructed. I don't have a fancy laboratory to do any in-depth testing, but what mortal does?

Amazon's application fitment guide for this part is messed up. I know for a fact this size fits a 2003 Honda Accord and a 2006 Acura TSX, even though Amazon says it doesn't. Check the fram.com website to get the correct number for your vehicle.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this K & N kit through Amazon and I was not only pleased at being able to purchase it significantly cheaper than anywhere else, but it was easy to install and I have noticed an increase in MPG.Since I drive 150+ miles per day, I am keenly aware of mileage, and I have noticed a slight increase in the mileage I receive.I estimate I'll be able to recoup its cost in about a year.The engine does sound somewhat throatier, but one would have to actually listen for it, and know what the car sounded like before to notice.As for horsepower, I haven't done much to test it out, other than to say that when starting from stops, there is no lag on the line when starting.I am happy with the kit, and will likely buy another for my wife's Jeep.

The AEM intake for the RX8 is one of the few aftermarket intakes that is well designed and actually increases performance (slightly) for the RX8. AEM designed and makes this intake for Mazda as theMazdaspeed intake for the RX8. If you decide later to have a custom turbo kit created for your car this is one of the few intakes that can also be modified to bolt on to your turbo kit. I recommend this over the Injen intake or K&N typhoon V2. I personally have the Racing Beat intake on my RX8 and it's excellent but would also recommend the AEM.

(More customer reviews)I have had the kit installed now for about 3 months in my 2004.5 Dodge Cummins. It was fairly easy to install. It took me about 1 1/2 hrs.
The first difference I noticed was the sound. You can really hear the turbo working.
The next thing I noticed was the difference in performance. You can definately tell that the increased airflow is improving acceleration & turbo lag.
I am not sure about the fuel mileage because I had added a module about a month before.
I found the best price at the time at amazon which is usually the case.

Acceleration off the line was not significantly increased but when you get into the power band the increase is very noticeable. From around 3000 rpm up to 6000 rpm the torque and acceleration feel great. There is however, a significant increase in engine noise. It sounds like I changed my exhaust. If you are looking for increased performance I would recommend this kit!!

Increase in mileage pays for the unit in under 6 months, so well worth the cost.

(More customer reviews)The reviews I have read about this product seem to say easy install, minimal performance gain, 3rd gear sounds amazing.
My experience, installation somewhat difficult, performance much improved, gears 1-5 sound amazing depending on how your driving.
Changed stock air intake w/ 80,000 miles, on 2.0 8 v Jetta (naturally asperated) w/ Manual Trans.
First time doing more than maintaince on a vehicle.
It took me and a friend more than 5 hours to get the old intake out and put the new cold air intake in, and don't even think about doing this without help, unless you have some experience.
It is true all you need is a couple of screw drivers to install the actual K&N kit itself, however, on a Jetta, it would really help if one of those screw drivers is offset, (like an S) because without a piece like that, getting the clamp of the filter on to the pipe underneath your car is almost impossible (very little room), and it takes more than a few screwdrivers to get your old stuff out, a lot more on a VW.Also, at one point, the instructions asks to remove some rivets.The only way we could figure do so was to break them, and one of them is close to the bottom of the car. Breaking them worked, but it was odd.
Had these things been clear from the begining, it would have saved us at least two hours.
Once the CAI was in, it was instantly noticeable that the laughable initial chuc-chuc choking sound of a vw jetta engine starting up was replaced by a deeper more aggressive deep breath sound followed by a low growl from the engine.Not only was the sound from the engine better, but I noticed a big improvement in accelleration.I don't have any way to measure, but I would estimate at least a 15% gain on my 90-110 hp car.I have not seen an improvement in MPG because I am having so much fun tearing up the road with the faster, better sounding car.
All in all, I am happy with my purchase.
