(More customer reviews)I place a K&N Replacement air filter in every car I drive because, in my tests, I have gained about an extra gallon per mile increase in fuel efficiency, smoother throttle response and a slight but noticeable increase in acceleration/power.As such the replacement filters pay for themselves in less than a year.I hadn't ever installed a K&N Air Intake kit because the high retail price of the units made it difficult for me to rationalize the expense vs. utility.In other words I had a hard time seeing how the unit would pay for itself in a reasonable amount of time.However, here on Amazon at present this kit is being sold at a price that makes the recapture of cost, assuming an additional one mile per gallon increase in mileage per gallon and gasoline approaching three dollars a gallon, occur in a reasonable amount of time.All this aside, and having installed this unit, I am an instant convert to the K&N air intake cause!!!For, the difference in throttle response, acceleration and power is surprisingly large, noticeable and pleasurable.Believe it or not, it feels almost like having a different engine in the vehicle; it is that pronounced a difference.I haven't and will not do a gas mileage test because I haven't been keeping track of my pre-installation gas mileage but this went into a 2.4L Tacoma that, when new got around 22-24 miles to the gallon. I have little doubt that I'll get an increase in gas mileage but this a moot point:The gain in power, acceleration and throttle response is more than worth the cost of admission.Installation of this unit was surprisingly easy.It took me about one hour working slowly.The directions are definitely adequate, even if they are a bit short on details and the photographs aren't good.The only complaint I have is that I ended up with two lock washers (K&N calls them wave washers) that I should have used but didn't because I wasn't sure where they should go and a rubber fitting that wasn't on the instruction sheet so I assume it was thrown into the package in error.Everything fit the way it was supposed to.I would caution the installer to carefully fit the weather stripping around the metal plate or else it will look awful (I've seen them improperly installed before and wondered why they were: It is difficult to fit them on because they are held on by a friction bind which is very tight.Just work them on carefully and powerfully and you will not have problems installing them.)In my opinion, this is the single best thing that you can install on your vehicle to get the biggest bang for your buck.This kit is great!!!I would like to note that there is definitely a flat spot that one feels upon acceleration which is reflected in the enclosed dyno documentation.During that period it seems as though the vehicle has slightly less power of acceleration than the stock intake provided but the overall improvement in power and acceleration dwarfs this slightly negative point.Also, and this may or may not matter to you, the sound of the intake is definitely noticeable and the engine sounds far, far throatier than it does with the stock intake.This can be noted by both the vehicle's occupants and outside observers.Some would think this is great, others might not like the slight increase in sound levels.I also believe that gas mileage may suffer as it is just so much fun using all of that extra available power and acceleration and one tends to accelerate more aggressively.I repeat this is a GREAT product!!!
