(More customer reviews)I have an 07 Tacoma I-4 (everything is stock), and it seemed to lack some power after it hit 65mph.The air intake solved this problem, and it also makes the engine sound a lotbetter.It's not any louder when idling or accelerating smoothly, only when it gets above 2500 rpm.That is good because sometimes I don't want to be noticed when I am driving around.

The install was pretty easy.It took a little over 2hrs., but that was because it was getting dark outside and I couldn't see what I was doing.The kit fits surprisingly well--no modifications needed.The instructions are not that good in the part where it talks about putting the heat shield in; it's a lot easier to put the bracket in and then screw the heat sheild to it instead of the other way around.You will see what I mean if you buy it.

The stock intake on the Tacoma actually has an air pipe in the fender.So by leaving that in, it is more like a cold/ram air intake.

Overall, it's a good investment in performance.I don't know about fuel economy because I just put it in today.I will have to see if it actually makes a difference.If it does, it will probably end up paying for itself in a few years.

This one that i used on my Dads 2007 Avalanche was not to hard to install, is full plastic so it doesnt get hot and heat up hp, and helped us get 1-1.5 mpg better on our recent trip to NC this winter. Overall good product with a good price. I do however dont like how the heater hoses and pcv valve setup are on this kit, but they work so its ok.

How High-Flow Technology Works
How does the K&N 63-3058 increase horsepower? By eliminating airflow obstruction in your engine. Restriction of air flow between an air filter and an engine robs even the most powerful engine of horsepower. K&N air intake kits virtually eliminate air path restriction by replacing the standard air filter and the entire air path to the engine. The aerodynamically engineered conduit that makes up the 63-3058 drives a massive amount of air into an engine, which translates into power. This conduit begins with an oversized conical high-flow air filter. (More customer reviews)I bought this product for a 2003 Ford Mustang GT.It took about an hour to assemble and attach.The only issue I had was getting the filter, 2 gaskets, the heat shield, and the maf sensor on together with the screws they gave me. I can tell a difference in the hp and its too early to tell on mpg.I would recommend this product over the other intakes out there because of the warranty and that the product lives up to its guarantee.

(More customer reviews)This was the first time I've owned or known of anyone having a cold air intake.I've read about owners in the forums, some like them, some don't.

Installation was pretty easy.I'm fairly mechanically inclined, and it took me about an hour and a half to remove my stock intake and install the k&n intake.No cutting or drilling was needed.I was a little afraid at first to be removing so much stuff, but once I got into it, it wasn't hard.Make sure you keep the instructions and all the parts in case you want to put the stock system back in.

Once I got it all installed, I took it for a spin.The first thing I noticed was the sucking noise that it made sucking in all the air.Stock systems are designed to keep your engine as quiet as possible.Cold Air Intakes are designed to be the least resistant as possible.So naturally, there will be more noise.Once I got going, there was a nice deep throaty noise.It felt kind of nice knowing people could hear my truck going by.I didn't really notice much of a power difference.

I've only had it on for a day, so I can't speak of gas mileage, but from what people say, it improves your mileage.

I'm kind of on the fence about keeping it on.The sucking noise is quite noticeable when driving down the road.I'll probably keep it on for a few weeks to see if my mileage improves.If not, then i'll probably put the old intake back on.To me, the added power (that I can't really feel) doesn't make up for the noise.

With the billions of dollars the auto industry has spent trying to improve gas mileage and power, every car made in the world would have these as original equipment if such gains were possible. If life were only so simple. People who replace a CLOGGED filter with a new one will notice an improvement, no matter what NEW CLEAN filter they use.If it's clogged badly enough, the improvement might be that your car runs now). But K & N is definitely better than most in fit and quality, plus being reusable, but a magic bullet it is not. A clogged K & N filter will also cause performance problems, it's just that all you have to do is clean it properly, and you are off and running; whereas with a paper filter, you have to throw it out. Worth the money, especially at 25-30 bucks.

(More customer reviews)My Civic needed a new air filter, and previous experience with K&N was very positive so I splurged on this. While I find the dyno chart K&N has for the 1.5 engine hard to believe, I can say there's a definite bump in low end torque and throttle response, perfect when driving conservatively. Top end I didn't really feel anything, but the soundtrack is better :-) My one complaint stems from the fact that for $120 you would think they would give you a tube that goes from the filter to the manifold. Instead you have to re-use the rubber hose from the old intake system which looks cheap and a pain to install on the curved piece they do give you. Which gets me thinking about all the other things I could have bought instead. $120 buys alot of used CD's, MGS4 & GTA4, etc. Perhaps in their testing it didn't make much difference, but still, injection molded plastic can't be THAT expensive. In the end it's worth it, but I sure hope your Civic has plenty of life left in it to make this a good value.
